Most of the ethnic minority people work their land on sloping terraces since the vast majority of the land is mountainous. Their staple foods are rice and corn. Rice, by its very nature of being a labour intensive crop, makes the daily fight for survival paramount. The unique climate in Sapa has a major influence on the ethnic minorities who live in the area. With sub-tropical summers, temperate winters and 160 days of mist annually, the influence on agricultural yields and health related issues are significant.

Tour Program:

Day 1 : Hanoi  - Laocai
21 : 00 pm - Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi and transfer to Hanoi Railway Station for boarding to Laocai by Tulico Express Train. Overnight on the A/c soft sleeper Cabin. ( 4pax/cabin or 2pax/cabin on request ).

Day 2 : Laocai -Sapa - TaVan: 5 hours trekking, 14 km, 3 villages. ( B/L/D )
6 : 00 am - Arrive to Laocai train station. Welcome by your local guide and driver. Transfer to your Sapa for breakfast & relax. Take a jeep ride for the first part and go down hill to the valley. Cross MuongHoa River to get to the other mountainside for 3 villages of the H'mong and the Dzay. Stay the night at a local family in Tavan village. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and home stay in the village.

Day 3 : TaVan -BanHo 7 hours trekking, 18 km, 3 villages. ( B/L/D )
Breakfast and leave the family for the next village. Visit the Red Dzao in GiangTaChai village by way of terraced paddy fields and bamboo forests. Enjoy the natural beauty of Silver Waterfall and Rattan Bridge. Cross the river and continue going to BanHo village where the Tay people settle down. On the way to BanHo, there is more chance to see the Red Dzao and the Black H'mong in Supan village. Spend the night in BanHo village at a Tay Family. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and home stay in the village.

Day 4 : BanHo -Sapa 3 hours trekking of 7 km and 23 km by jeep. ( B/L/D )
Breakfast with the family and leave the village for a waterfall discovered by French people. Enjoy the view, swimming and return to BanHo to visit the people in the village. Say goodbye to the family and get up to the main road where to take a jeep back to Sapa. Lunch on the way. Dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at your proposed hotel in Sapa.

Day 5 : Sapa - Laocai - Hanoi ( B/_/_ )
Breakfast at the hotel. Free at leisure. Check out hotel at noon. Lunch on guest account. Free until Transfer to Laocai train station for boarding to Hanoi by Tulico Express Train ( 20 : 45- 5 : 00 ). End of services.
